Position Summary

RAB is seeking a Controller to join our growing Administrative team based in Whitehorse, Yukon. The Controller will provide leadership in the areas of full cycle accounting operations, financial management reporting and HR & Administrative processes for both Northerm (Whitehorse, YT) and Capitol Glass (Anchorage, AK). This position will report directly to the President. The successful candidate will be required to reside in the Whitehorse area and be willing to travel occasionally.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in and manage daily transactional record keeping;
  • Maintain a solid credit and collection process and manage cash flow including all banking and credit facilities;
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient workflow policies and procedures;
  • Challenge processes and tasks that were performed in the past and seek opportunities for increased effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Respond to requests, issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner, seeking guidance when necessary;
  • Prepare on a timely and accurate basis all monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting to all stakeholders;
  • Work closely with external accounting firm on annual audit of financials;
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts;
  • Work closely with management and their groups including the HR function and other administrative tasks;
  • Mentor and develop team members who ensuring accuracy and completeness of work.

Qualifications

  • Charted Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required with three (3) plus years’ experience post designation preferred but not required;
  • Proficient in accounting and ERP System(s). Knowledge of Adagio accounting software would be an asset but not a requirement;
  • Previous accounting experience in the manufacturing industry considered an asset;
  • Ability to tactfully and persuasively communicate both verbally and in writing;
  • Strong technical / system knowledge would be beneficial;

Position Summary

Northerm is seeking an intermediate-level Human Resources Advisor to join our growing Administrative team. The purpose of this role is to support the seamless administration of Northerm’s HR programs and services. This individual will act as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from Employees and internal partners and will play a significant role in the staffing and overall compliance of each department.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with managers to identify staffing needs and manage the entire recruitment cycle;
  • Provide sound, ethical, and timely guidance to Managers on employee relations matters including progressive discipline & performance management, attendance, terminations, workplace accommodations, etc;
  • Produce high quality reports, documentation, and communication for various HR subject matter;
  • Manage new employee onboarding including contract administration and new hire orientations;
  • Ensure security of employee documents;
  • Provide training and information to Managers on various HR topics;
  • Other projects and tasks as required by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis;
  • 3+ years’ progressive experience in a Human Resources department, preferably in an advisory capacity;
  • Working toward, or holding a CPHR designation considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights, OH&S and other related legislation required;
  • Strong customer focus with exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven decision making, problem solving, and time management skills;
  • High level of computer literacy and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated respect for confidentiality and privacy a requirement.

Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Reports to: Production Manager or Designate

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible to inspect, test, and troubleshoot our products. This individual will work with the production team to ensure appropriate procedures, standards, and specifications are in place. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable, hands-on team player, taking pride in our high-quality products.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspects incoming material and completed product to customer specifications;
  • Conducts ‘root cause’ analysis when defects occur and implements corrective actions;
  • Develops and maintains QA Manual, KPIs and associated documents;
  • Control of Records (Quality Documents, Certification Records, Fabrication Manuals, Equipment Maintenance and Repair Logs);
  • Tests window and door systems to the certification standards of IGMAC and NAFS (AAMA/WDMA/CSA101/I.S.2/A440-08NAFS);
  • Monitors work in progress for compliance to standards;
  • Provides reports to Management on weekly and monthly basis;
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

This individual will possess excellent problem solving, leadership, and communication skills with strong attention to detail;

  • Minimum of Grade 12 completion plus a College Diploma or equivalent working experience;
  • 5-8 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry required; specific to windows and doors considered an asset;
  • Digital fluency in a variety of platforms (computer skills, internet skills etc.); experience with CAD not required but considered an asset;

Title: Production Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Position Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for the seamless, economical operation of the facility’s manufacturing departments. The incumbent will ensure corporate targets are met and will possess the knowledge and leadership skills to maintain a safe, respectful work environment where products and services exceed company standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the manufacturing and production of company products, including adapting and adjusting production schedules & levels to meet business and customer expectations, including annual department targets;
  • Sounds understanding of manufacturing process with the ability to optimize process efficiencies;
  • Works with Human Resources and other stakeholders to ensure positions are staffed, the work environment is safe, and employees are engaged;
  • Responsible for cost analysis and optimal budget planning;
  • Collaborates with team members as necessary to ensure customer demands are met;
  • Execute quality control processes to resolve problems in production and ensure that all manufactured products meet quality standards;
  • Manages the day to day aspects of the Production Department – scheduling staff, tracking and managing inventory, overseeing maintenance of equipment and working with customers to ensure their needs are met;
  • Ensure that all WCB and Health and Safety obligations are met within the team;
  • Assist the General Manager with assigned projects such as industry research, automation initiatives, business planning etc.;
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

 This individual will possess excellent problem solving, leadership, and communication skills;

  • Minimum of Grade 12 completion plus a College Diploma or equivalent working experience;
  • 5-8 years experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 4 of them being in a role that required accountability for productivity, quality and profitability;
  • Experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment with some Engineering experience considered an asset;
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and digital fluency (computer skills, internet skills etc.);
  • Motivated to learn and grow and bring out the best in our team members.
